Our customized tour with AVT (Asia Vietnam Travel) to northwest Vietnam offered many occasions to commune with nature and to meet Vietnamese people in their authentic villages and homesteads. We enjoyed relaxed-paced exploration in parks, rivers, lakes and historical sites. There was a healthy variety of walking, boat riding and road traveling. There were also some opportunities for cycling in the countryside. Our guide Pham Thien a.k.a. Tim is enthusiastic, knowledgeable and patient with questions of all kinds. He also has a good sense of humor. Tim has visited Canada, speaks good English and is familiar with North American culture. He shares great local knowledge for dining, shopping and extra excursions. He is also very knowledgeable about the history of areas we visited and the history of Vietnam.

We could not have asked for a better knowledge guide. He is very friendly and so helpful. We all said he was the best guide we ever had. Tim was with us for 6 days. He gave us the history and the local tips about visiting Trang An and Tam Coc. One of our party was over 80 and he stayed with them as they climbed the 500 steps to the top and bottom. He took us to Bach Long Glass Bridge and he knew the best time to visit it when hardly anyone was around. We stayed in Moc Chau and the manager of the hotel did not speak any English and he interpreted everything so we could have breakfast. He would search out bakeries for us.

Thanks to AVT Travel, we did have a wonderful time together. An unforgettable moment! We knew AVT through friends who traveled with them before. We asked for some day trip options, but "Bac Ninh biking" is truly what we are looking for. Peaceful countryside, beautiful old house, and temple, traditional craft villages, a nice story of history and culture, especially a sweet home meal with a local family. Tim went above and beyond and did a wonderful job taking us to Ninh Binh and Moc Chau. We were able to see so many amazing places. He is very knowledgeable and informative and shared so much of the history of the places we visited. We highly recommend him. He never once disappointed us.
