Our customized tour with AVT (Asia Vietnam Travel) to northwest Vietnam offered many occasions to commune with nature and to meet Vietnamese people in their authentic villages and homesteads. We enjoyed relaxed-paced exploration in parks, rivers, lakes and historical sites. There was a healthy variety of walking, boat riding and road traveling. There were also some opportunities for cycling in the countryside. Our guide Pham Thien a.k.a. Tim is enthusiastic, knowledgeable and patient with questions of all kinds. He also has a good sense of humor. Tim has visited Canada, speaks good English and is familiar with North American culture. He shares great local knowledge for dining, shopping and extra excursions. Tim is fabulous and so knowledgeable
We could not have asked for a better knowledge guide. He is very friendly and so helpful. We all said he was the best guide we ever had. Tim was with us for 6 days. He gave us the history and the local tips about visiting Trang An and Tam Coc. One of our party was over 80 and he stayed with them as they climbed the 500 steps to the top and bottom. He took us to Bach Long Glass Bridge and he knew the best time to visit it when hardly anyone was around. We stayed in Moc Chau and the manager of the hotel did not speak any

Wonderful and Educational Tour of Vietnam
We toured with AVT's CEO Thien, starting in Hanoi and working our way to the Mekong Delta, with many stops on the way. Honestly, didn't know what to expect from Vietnam as this was our first trip to Asia. However, with Thien's guidance we had a travel experience that ranks as one of our all time favourites! We don't typically travel to see beaches (although Vietnam has no shortage, and Ha Long Bay is stunning) but rather to experience the country, it's people, and it's history. Thien was the ideal person to guide us... the sheer knowledge he has about his country is truly impressive. Thien mixes that knowledge with a true love of his country and it's people, and he was always glad to highlight the cultural aspects of an area and help us connect with local folks to understand the Vietnamese

Thien and his team member, Judy have been most responsive, knowledgeable, courteous and patient in accommodating our frequent changes in drawing up our travel program. Judy is very attentive and engaging.They understood that we are not keen on an “off-the-shelf” and hectic itinerary. We spent 4 nights in Hanoi and 5 nights in Ninh Bình. It was fantastic!! When we arrived at Hanoi airport, the shop that sells SIM cards(the 1st shop on the right, upon arrival exit) had both our mobile phones disabled for any use. And that was 31 Dec. All authorised Samsung shops or our network providers are closed till 2 Jan. Finally, we managed to contact Thien if he could assist with a mobile phone rental. Both Thien and Judy were in Hanoi's old town to receive us. Without hesitation, both of them arranged everything and that was definitely a reassuring start for us. They were always
