Today you arrive in Hanoi, Vietnam’s bustling 1000-year-old colonial capital.

Enjoy your free time, refresh yourself and relax. Wander around this beautiful, romantic, and bustling city.

At 6 pm you will meet with the group for the tour briefing. If you have any questions please ask your Tour Leader.

Afterward, we will enjoy a welcome dinner (included) with the whole group to get to know each other as a traveling family.

Day 2 Hanoi – Ha Long Bay – Overnight cruise (L/B/D)

After breakfast, we set out on a 3-4 hour drive through the beautiful countryside to the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site: Ha Long Bay.
We’ll Spend 24 hours on a traditional Junk Boat Cruise in the amazing bay: a natural wonderland composed of jutting limestone islands and sparkling turquoise waters.

At the harbor, we will transfer to the Pegasus Cruise. Welcome drinks and a complementary towel will be served followed by our cruise safety briefing before checking in to our cabins.

We’ll enjoy a beautiful lunch while sailing along, basking in the beauty of hundreds of karst islands as we pass from Ha Long Bay to Lan Ha Bay. Later we’ll visit the Light and Dark Water Cave where you can go kayaking or take a bamboo boat rowed by local people.
In the evening we return to Cruise and admire the magnificent sunset over the Gulf of Tonkin and enjoy happy hour (buy 2, get 1 more free) onboard. You can also take part in a cooking demonstration to learn about Vietnamese cuisine.

Afterward, we’ll enjoy a great dinner together then the evening is yours to enjoy the landscapes of the bay on the top deck, sing karaoke, try your luck at squid fishing, or just relax in your cabins.

Day 3 Lan Ha Bay – Cat Ba – Hanoi – Flight to Hue (B/L)

You may wake up early to enjoy the dawn and start a perfect new day with Tai Chi exercises on the sundeck.
We’ll have a light breakfast in the onboard restaurant before checking out of our cabins, then we take a bus on Cat Ba Island through the wild natural scenery of the Cat Ba National Park before arriving at the Army Hospital Cave, a special place to save the significant Vietnamese history during the resistance war.

10:30: Back to Calypso Cruises. You have lunch while the Calypso Cruise back to the harbor and return to Hanoi by bus.
Back in the city, you will transfer to Noi Bai airport for an evening flight to Hue (Flight time TBC) where we’ll check in to the hotel and have the rest of the night free.

Day 4 Hue – Top Gear Tour - Visit Citadels and Tombs (L/B)

We’ll start our motorbike tour from the hotel in Hue City with our experienced drivers and friendly English-speaking guide to discover Hue’s beautiful countryside and villages.

The first stop will be Thanh Toan Village with its morning-only local market then onto Old Thanh Toan Covered Bridge to experience the peaceful rural life of the Hue people. This will be a chance for you to get closer to local people and learn about their daily lives.

We continue riding on beautiful countryside roads to visit the historical Chin Ham Relic (which translates to 9 Bunkers Prison). This prison was first built by the French and used as weapon storage during the French War but when the Vietnam War started in 1954, Ngo Dinh Can (Brother of the First South Vietnamese President Ngo Dinh Diem) used these bunkers to confine Viet Cong and Hue locals who disagreed with the South Vietnamese Government. Most of the Bunkers were destroyed by bombs during wartime and only one is being preserved now.

The next stop will be a conical hat and incense-making workshop. There you will have a chance to learn about how local people have been using traditional ways to make for their living generations. Try your hand at making your own incense sticks as a unique souvenir.

Following the workshop, we will stop at a former American bunker (Vong Canh Hills) with amazing views of the Perfume River, where our informative guide will give you more insight into the Vietnam War.
We continue to the Tiger-Elephant Arena, which was built in 1830 by King Minh Mang in which duels between the two animals were arranged for the entertainment of the Emperors right up until 1904.

We’ll move on to enjoy a vegetarian feast at a nunnery then check out one of the Royal Emperor’s tombs and learn more about the life of Royal Kings before heading back to town. Back at the hotel, you have the rest of the day/evening to enjoy your free time.

Special Information: The motorbike tour is a great adventure and showcases the countryside and real-life experiences in Vietnam. It’s a lot of fun and highly recommended!
The motorbike tour has been assessed for safety and is closely monitored. Please ensure that your travel insurance covers riding a pillion on a motorbike up to 125cc. If you prefer not to participate in motorbike riding, please let your Tour Leader know and they will arrange car transportation at no extra cost.

Day 5 Hue – transfer to Hoi An via Hai Van pass (B)

After breakfast, we depart Hue for the scenic mountainous drive to Hoi An. We’ll stop at the fishing village of Lang Co for refreshments and at the dramatic Hai Van Pass, the high dividing line between the climate zones of North and South Vietnam, to admire the spectacular views.
Upon arrival in Hoi An, you’ll check in at your hotel. After settling in, we’ll begin a sightseeing walk through the Old Town to visit the city’s major attractions. You’ll also be given a sightseeing pass (note that the pass is valid for 3 days there, please always bring it with you when in town) so you can further explore select attractions at your leisure.

Day 6 Hoi An – Learn about local cuisine – Handson Cooking Class (B)

Today you’ll have a free morning to relax in the resort popular with tourists for its eclectic architecture, skilled tailors, and numerous cafes.
In the afternoon, we’ll enjoy a walking tour to explore local life in this amazing and peaceful town. We’ll see highlights of Hoi An’s 15th to 18th-century pagodas and temples. This sleepy town was also once a thriving international port frequented by Chinese, Dutch, French, Japanese, Portuguese, and Arab traders. Later, we learn about the local cuisine (My Quang and Cao Lau Noodle) with a local family then we move on to a local restaurant to study more authentic Vietnamese food.
You will become a master chef and enjoy a dinner that you’ve prepared under the guidance of expert chefs. Don’t forget to leave your email to get the recipes for the menu so you can experience a little of Vietnam back at home!
The evening is your free time to explore the town. Take the opportunity to order tailor-made clothes, shop for souvenirs and jewelry and explore the beautiful night market stocked with unique colorful lanterns.

Day 7 Hoi An – Free day (B)

Today is a full free day. This is a perfect opportunity to explore the finer details of the town, shop in the array of local shops and markets or if shopping isn’t your thing, take the weight off your feet in one of Hoi An’s many cafés and restaurants, enjoy a massage or relax on Cua Dai or An Bang Beach.

There are lots of things to do in Hoi An, here are some optional activities you might be interested in:
My Son Holy Temple :
The UNESCO World Heritage Site: My Son Temples or Holy Land surrounded by the Cat’s Tooth Mountains. My Son Sanctuary is home to the ancient Cham ruins and is often referred to as Vietnam’s Angkor Wat! The complex includes many temples and towers that connect to each other with complicated red brick designs that are mysterious to this day. The main component of the Cham architectural design is the tower, built to reflect the divinity of the king. It is an amazing place for you to study architecture, Hindu and Cham Cultures. Enjoy watching a Cham dancing performance with traditional music. On the way back, stop for a short visit to the Sa Huynh Champa Museum in Tra Kieu.

Day 8 Hoi An – Da Nang – Flight to Ho Chi Minh City (B)

We have breakfast at the hotel and then drive to the airport to take the flight to Vietnam’s biggest commercial hub: Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) – a very dynamic and modern metropolis.
We arrive in the late morning and enjoy an orientation tour through Ho Chi Minh City’s bustling streets en route to the hotel. We’ll eat lunch at a downtown restaurant then set out on a guided city tour.

Day 9 Cu Chi Tunnels tour (B/L)

In the morning we leave Ho Chi Minh City on a two-hour drive to the Cu Chi Tunnels.

Upon arrival, we’ll first watch a short documentary film about these tunnels which illustrates how fierce the war was. Afterward, you’ll have the chance to try the special staple diet during the war: rice tapioca & hot tea.

Later, if you’re feeling up to it, you can try to fire off an AK47 or M16 machine gun at the nearby shooting range (Self-payment) before heading back to Ho Chi Minh City where you’ll have the rest of the day free.

Day 10 Saigon - Mekong Delta full tour day – Can Tho (B/L)

We meet our tour guide at the hotel and leave Ho Chi Minh city for the Mekong Delta. We’ll drive one hour and thirty minutes to get to My Tho town. On the way, you see the beautiful green rice fields, the peaceful Vam Co Dong river, and the busy Long An town.

We arrive in My Tho town and visit Vinh Trang pagoda, one of the oldest in Southern Vietnam,
known as the largest pagoda with the most special architecture in the Mekong Delta. Its architecture was influenced by Vietnamese, Khmer, and European cultures.
Afterward, we board a motorized boat at the pier and take a leisurely ride down the Tien River passing stilt houses, floating fishing farms, and the four Islands (Dragon, Phoenix, Tortoise, Unicorn). After passing Rach Mieu bridge, we disembark at Thoi Son Islet, located on Phoenix Island. We’ll take a gentle walk on the village paths, visit local people’s homes, and an orchard garden, and enjoy seasonal fruits while listening to traditional southern folk music. Next, we will visit a honey bee farm and taste a delicious and healthy honey lemon tea.

We continue to explore the Mekong Delta on hand-rowed sampans through the creeks of natural water coconut trees, a symbol in the Delta area before cruising to Ben Tre province on a motorized boat. Here we’ll visit a coconut candy workshop to learn how these scrumptious candies are made by hand.

We’ll eat lunch at a riverside restaurant then cruise to Unicorn Island to visit a crocodile farm and the remains of Coconut belief. Finally, we end the day with a short walk through the narrow village paths and take a car to Can Tho for our homestay.

Day 11 Can Tho - Chau Doc (B)

We rise early and leave the hotel to visit the famous and colorful Cai Rang floating market. Experience the daily life in the Mekong River Delta as vendors from around the region gather to sell fresh fruits, local delicacies and handmade goods. After stocking up we make our way back to the homestay for breakfast then we depart for the 3-hour drive to Chau Doc. En route there is an optional stop at one of the Mekong Delta’s best stork sanctuaries, Bang Lang Stork Garden, with thousands of birds wheeling, swooping, and squabbling over nesting places at dusk.
Later in the afternoon, we visit Sam Mountain, an important pilgrimage site that is frequently visited by pilgrims from all over the Mekong Delta. There are dozens of pagodas and temples around Sam Mountain; reaching the peak is the highlight of the visit. Finally, we check in to the hotel for some much-needed relaxation.

Day 12 Chau Doc - Phnom Penh - city tour of the Reborn Country (B/L)

After breakfast, we’ll check out of the hotel and then travel by speedboat up the Mekong to Cambodia’s capital: Phnom Penh. Visas are easily obtained at the border between Vietnam and Cambodia and cost 34 USD (including the processing fee). Our local guide will meet us at the dock in Phnom Penh and take us to the hotel.

Phnom Penh has been the capital since 1866 and although it suffered extensive damage during the Khmer Rouge era, the city still retains a rustic charm.
Accompanied by an English-speaking local guide, tour the city to discover both its ancient and recent past.
We’ll travel to visit the most secret organ of the Khmer Rouge regime, Tuol Sleng prison (Genocide Museum). Also called S-21, it stands for “Security Office 21.” was Angkor’s premier security institution, specifically designed for the interrogation and extermination of anti-Angkor elements. We’ll continue the haunting story as we visit the Choeung Ek museum where between 1975 and 1978, the dark side of Cambodian history, about 17,000 men, women, children, and infants detained and tortured at S-21 prison were transported to the extermination camp of Choeung Ek.

Afterward, we return to the city and stop to take pictures of Cambodia’s Royal Palace, which stands majestically in the city center just a setback from the riverfront area. Several buildings are open to visitors including the ‘Silver Pagoda’ whose floor is lined with solid silver tiles.

At the north end of the city is the hilltop pagoda of Wat Phnom, after which the capital was named. Climb the stairs to the top of the hill for fabulous views of the city below.
In the evening we’ll sip some refreshments and enjoy the sunset river cruise on the Mekong River and Tonle Sap Lake.

Day 13 Phnom Penh road trip to Siem Reap (B)

Today we will transfer from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap by private vehicle.
Along the way, we enjoy the peaceful countryside scenery and stop to visit a local market where, if you dare, can taste the local delicacies including tarantulas, scorpions, cockroaches, crickets, and worms!
We arrive in Siem Reap and have free time to explore this vibrant city. Be prepared for chaotic traffic (although, less so than in Phnom Penh!) and thriving nightlife with bars and night markets around the heart of the city.

Day 14 Full day Angkor Wat Tour (B)

We wake especially early (4:30 am) to make our way to Angkor Wat. We’ll get there in enough time to stake our claim to the perfect photo spot as the sun rises over the magnificent World Heritage Site. After sunrise, we’ll return to the hotel where we’ll eat breakfast and fuel up for a full day of temple exploring! We return to the Angkor site for a full-day guided tour of the South Gate of Angkor Thom, Bayon, Baphoun, Terrace of the Elephants, and Terrace of Leper King. You’ll find your own lunch at one of the many local restaurants within the Angkor site then, in the afternoon, we’ll visit the Tomb Raider Temple followed by a sunset view.

Day 15 Siem Reap free day (L)

Day 16 Siem Reap – Bangkok (B)

After breakfast head to the airport where we’ll catch a flight to Bangkok.

Refunds or Cancellation:
- Tour and transfer deposits are fully refundable if the amendment/cancellation is received more than 20 days in advance. Hotel deposits will be refunded according to individual hotel cancellation policy.

- Cancellation fees will be levied according to the time cancellation is made.
- No refund or reduction will be made to any member of GROUP/F.I.T. who breaks the journey from the scheduled itinerary.
