With the first part dedicated mainly to the main attractions in Ha Giang, coming back with the second part of “Things Ha Giang is famous for”, we are going to introduce to you more interesting facts and inspirations about Ha Giang that have not been famous widely or explored internationally. Let’s dig in together to understand this beautiful destination from more perspectives.

CUISINE

Vietnam is generally famous for its special and delicious cuisine and so for Ha Giang. If you go to Ha Giang, exploring gastronomy is an activity that you cannot miss. This is because this is one of the things Ha Giang is famous for.

In fact, the local cuisine is like a mirror reflecting the specialities and characteristics of that area. Based on the mountainous terrain, Ha Giang’s cuisine has the main ingredients of various types of meat (buffalo meat, horse meat, boar meat, etc.,) and rice.

One of the most popular foods in Ha Giang is “Thit trau gac bep” (Dried buffalo meat). The origin of this speciality is that back in the time, meat is a luxury food for most of the families within the region. Hence, the indigenous people tried to preserve the meat by using the drying method with salt and putting the meat close to the top of their kitchen. Thanks to that special cooking method, the meat can stay longer through time and keep the freshness and juice inside at the same time.

In addition, one of the best things about the cuisine in Ha Giang as well as Vietnam is that all the used ingredients are natural. Hence, there is no food color or chemical ingredient. As a result, the food tastes fresh and safe.

THIEN HUONG VILLAGE

In the past, this location is one of the things that Ha Giang is famous for among all the northern regions in Vietnam. However, this beautiful village in Dong Van province seems like not receiving the deserved spotlights at the moment.

Also, you can experience the winemaking process over here in the cellar or participate in the daily activities of the locals to feel the peacefulness of the northern mountainous area.

Only when visiting Tu San Abyss, then you can understand the majesty of Vietnamese nature. Tu San Abyss locates at the foot of Ma Pi Leng pass. This creates a special and unique valley. Also, the abyss enhances the grandeur of the pass, river, and Hanh Phuc Road. From the boat going on the Nho Que River, you can look up to the top of Tu San Abyss. At that moment, you can truly feel how magnificent the nature of Ha Giang is, how powerful the resilience of the people here is, and also how small you are in such a big world filled with many beautiful things around.

THE KING OF H’MONG’S MANSION

The King of H’Mong’s Mansion or the Mansion of the Vuong Family is one of the most must-see attractions in Ha Giang. Originally, this mansion belongs to the King Vuong Chinh Duc of the H’Mong ethnic minority.

Also, talking about the feng shui of this mansion, the location has the shape of golden tortoiseshell, and in traditional belief, this is a sign of fortune and represents the whole career and legacy of the King. Being famous as the Mecca of the H’Mong community, if you would like to understand more about the culture of the H’Mong ethnic minority and Ha Giang in general, this place is highly recommended.

The famous linen has a very careful and traditional making process with the main masters being the women of H’Mong living inside the village. Due to the fact that all the steps are done manually and all the ingredients are natural, it takes a lot of time to make a linen product. However, in the return, the product’s quality is nothing but on top. Taking a linen shirt as an example, the shirt from Lung Tam village will make you feel warm in the winter and cool during the summer.
